We provide a variety of special events to help build family unity, increase community pride, and create a fun and enjoyable recreational experience for everyone. If you are new to the community, or have been a resident for many years, we encourage you to participate and enjoy the great programs we offer. Grab a blanket and your friends and family for an enjoyable evening outside listening to some great music! This FREE concert series will be returning this fall at Flatiron Community Park (100 N. Lost Dutchman Days
This community event is sponsored by Superstition Mountain Promotional Corporation. This annual three-day community event is hosted on the last weekend in February. The event includes a parade, rodeo, carnival, art show and more! For more information about this event, visit www.lostdutchmandays.org.
Itty Bitty Olympics Bring your little ones out to enjoy this fun filled morning competing for ribbons and prizes in Olympic style events. The next event will take place in March 2020 at Flatiron Community Park for Boys & Girls ages 0-6. Visit our Sports site for details.
Superstition Sleepover Grab your tent, sleeping bags and your family and join Parks and Recreation as we camp out in our park. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities during the day and relax to an evening of entertainment under the stars. Food will be provided. This event will take place in March.
Antique Tractor Show This annual three-day community event is hosted on the second week of March at the Apache Junction Rodeo Park Event Center. For more information please visit the website http://www.aedgeta.org/.
April Pool's Day
Superstition Fire & Medical District, AJ Parks & Recreation and AJ Police Department team up every April to conduct this Water Safety event. Bring the whole family and enjoy the various activities, home pool safety for parents, mini swim lessons, swim skill evaluations, raffles, and much more.
Itty Bitty Beach Party Join AJ Parks & Rec. for this annual pool party for our littlest swimmers (ages 6 years and younger, children must be within an arm's reach of an adult at all times)! There will be swimming, games, prizes and MORE! For more information, click here
2021 Fourth of July Join Apache Junction Parks & Recreation Department as we celebrate Independence Day! Join us at the Apache Junction High School Football field for live music, activities and fireworks! The gates will open at 6pm, fireworks will start (weather permitting) at 8:30 pm. This event is free. We will also live stream fireworks on our Facebook page.
Teen Night @ the Pool Join AJ Parks & Rec. lifeguards for this exclusive teens only pool party for 13-17-year olds. There will be swimming, games, music, pizza, drinks and MORE! For more information, click here
Halloween is coming up and the City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation wants to make your night spook-ta-cular! We will be hosting our annual Halloween Festival from 5:00-8:00pm on Saturday, October 30th. The event will take place at the Flatiron Community Park. This event is free to the community and is offered as a safe alternative to the traditional neighborhood trick or treating. Keep an eye out for more details soon!
Festival of the Superstitions This community partnership event is sponsored by the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce and is held every November in Downtown Apache Junction at Flatiron Community Park. There will be live entertainment, food, vendors, and much more! Heal Yourself, Heal Your World, Wellness Event In November, the MGC will host healers, providers, non-profits & other agencies who are in the business of wellness. This year (2020) the event will look a little different. There will not be in an expo, but we will have education classes and workshops. Holiday Program & Light Parade-
The City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation will be hosting our annual Holiday Program & Light Parade on Saturday, December 4th. The event will take place at Flatiron Community Park. This event is free to the community! There will be lots of activities throughout the day for the whole family. Keep an eye out for more details soon!
Lost Dutchman Marathon This community event is sponsored by Lost Dutchman Marathon Inc. This annual Lost Dutchman Marathon community event is hosted on President's Day weekend. The event includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 8K trail run and a 2- mile fun run. For more information go to www.lostdutchmanmarathon.org
Easter Event 2021
Although we are not quite where we need to be in order to have our traditional community wide in-person Easter Egg Hunt, we are excited to be able to offer Easter activities for local families again this year! We will be bringing back our “Egg-Cellent Scavenger Hunt” from last year and also passing out Easter Egg Rec Bags to families!
Easter Egg Rec Bags will be available for families to pick-up at our Multi-Generational Center between 6:00am and 8:00pm on the Wednesday, 3/31, Thursday, 4/1, and Friday, 4/2. There will be 30 plastic Easter Eggs per bag that include a prize or candy! One bag per family and supplies are limited.
Our "Egg-Cellent Scavenger Hunt" will take place between Thursday, April 1st and continue through Easter Sunday, April 4th. Families will be able to look for numbered 11" x 17" Easter Eggs posted throughout the community. Here are the Worksheet, Directions & Hints for the event.
