Halloween Festival

Halloween is coming up and city of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation wants to make your night spook-tacular!  We will be hosting our annual free Halloween Festival from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Flatiron Park, 100 N. Apache Trail.

The popular “Trunk or Treat,” activity, sponsored by Lost Dutchman Realty will return. Join local businesses as we close down the road, they line up their vehicles and pass out handfuls of candy to all the dressed up ghouls and goblins. 

If any person or business is unable to attend the event or would like to help support our event, candy donations are being accepted at several locations across the city starting on Oct. 1. Candy must be sealed and can be dropped off at:

  • Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center, 1035 N. Idaho Rd.
  • Lost Dutchman Realty, 185 N. Apache Trail
  • Apache Junction Library, 1177 N. Idaho Rd.
  • Handlebar Pub & Grill, 650 W. Apache Trail
  • Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, 567 W. Apache Trail
  • VFW Post #7968, 250 S. Phelps Dr.

The annual costume contest will begin at 6 p.m. and will be divided by age. All ages are welcome to enter. Remember to use your imagination and be creative! 

Do you or your family like to carve pumpkins for Halloween? If so, bring your pre-carved pumpkin out to the park and enter our pumpkin carving contest! All pumpkins must be submitted to the judging table by 6 p.m. to be eligible to win. Winners will be announced after the conclusion of the costume contest.

Enter your dog in our Howl-o-ween canine costume contest. All canines must be on a leash and have a completed entry form. This contest will begin at 7 p.m. after the human costume contests.

Local non-profit organizations, businesses and food vendors will be onsite selling food and providing games for the kids. Tickets at 25 cents apiece will be sold for games, with all proceeds going back to the community and the non-profit groups that host booths at the event.
