Parks Fall Programs

Trail Run for website

From indoor play to outdoor exploration, there is something for everyone. As families get into the busy rhythm of school and extracurricular activities, it’s important to remember to make the time to relax and recreate together! According to Recreation Coordinator Jill Ruot, “Staying active is not only important for your physical health (strong bones, muscles and healthy organs) but for your mental well-being too.” Physical activity can help improve energy levels, concentration and even sleep.

Fitness Exploration for Homeschoolers is for kids ages 7-12. Let us take care of your “physical education” needs! This fitness class incorporates a variety of physical activities that will encourage homeschooled kids to live active lifestyles, build healthy habits, and learn team building. Activities will include but aren't limited to- games, sport introductions, strength training, coordination and cardiovascular exercises, and outdoor hikes. The possibilities for fitness FUN are endless! Classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2 p.m., Oct. 4-27.

Nov 2021Fall Into Fitness Trail Run is free and open to participants of all ages. This event takes place on the desert trails on the east side of the Multigenerational Center on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 8:30 a.m.; check in begins at 8:15 a.m. Multiple distances and routes will be available so there is something for everyone. The desert trails are stroller friendly. Whether you walk, jog or sprint through the desert, save some energy at the end for the circuit of physical activities located around “The Loop” located between the MGC and City Hall complex. Strength and endurance exercises will take your morning workout to a new level! This event is also the first challenge for the My Park= My Gym; Park2Park Fitness Challenge program.

My Park= My Gym; Park2Park Fitness Challenge. Learn about the many different parks and trail systems in Apache Junction while participating in this challenge. Each month, from November to February, there will be 4 different challenges that not only introduce you to our parks but show you how to turn a park into your very own gym that will challenge your endurance, strength, and balance. November – Trail Run (2 or 4 miles) & Strength Circuit; December – Hike and Seek; January – 5k Trail Run and February – Healthy Heart Hustle. Receive a t-shirt and other goodies as you and your family complete the challenges. Cost is $5 per family member.

Do your kids like to help in the kitchen? If so, register them now for our Cooking with Kids class.  Youth ages 8–15 will learn fun, new healthy recipes that can easily be re-created at home for the family. Multiple sessions are available October thru December.

Parents, while your kids are getting a workout and learning good lifestyle habits, you can too! If you haven’t been to the Multi-Generational Center, stop by and tour the facility. Check out our state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment; and see our “million-dollar view” of the Superstition Mountains from our indoor walking track. Included in each membership is over 35 Group Fitness classes. We offer a wide range to fit everyone’s needs: ZUMBA, Tai Chi, Pilates, ball classes, Tabata, total body conditioning, Power Hour and eight different styles of Yoga classes.  We are also an approved SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit and Renew Active/OnePass facility.
