The Apache Junction Police Department begins the new year with a new public information officer, Rayna Steffen. Steffen is an Apache Junction resident who previously worked on the city of Apache Junction’s communications team.
Steffen will be the main point of contact for members of the media. She will share timely information via social media and coordinate community events on behalf of AJPD.
“Keeping the community and the media updated on important issues helps build trust and confidence in our department,” said AJPD Police Chief Michael Pooley.
As a former public information officer of the Tempe Police Department, Chief Pooley understands the importance of this position.
“Putting the right person in this role is key and I believe Rayna is the right person,” Pooley said. “She is going to continue to help our department build relationships and strong community ties.”
Steffen has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Northern Arizona University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Grand Canyon University. She has immensely enjoyed working for the city of Apache Junction and is delighted to bring her communication skills to AJPD.
“I’m excited to work alongside the men and women of the Apache Junction Police Department and I look forward to building even stronger connections within the community,” Steffen said.
