Expect road restrictions periodically as the Arizona Department of Transportation makes improvements to the drainage system along State Route 88 between Tomahawk and Buffalo roads. The project is expected to be completed this summer.
The improvements will include installing new pipe culverts for the intersection at SR 88 and Tomahawk Road and modifying three existing culverts in the project area.
In the project, sections of SR 88 will be narrowed to one lane with alternating north- and southbound travel nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone during these nightly closures.
Beginning in March, the intersection of SR 88 and Tomahawk will be closed for up to 50 days. That work will occur 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the intersection will remain closed for the duration.
