Commander Johnny John began his career with the Apache Junction Police Department in July of 2022 when he was selected as Field Operations Commander. Commander John is a proven supervisor with over 24 years of experience and has served in various leadership positions.
Before joining the Apache Junction Police Department, he worked for the Tempe Police Department for almost 24 years. He steadily worked his way through the ranks, serving the department in various capacities. He has worked as a Field Training Officer providing recruits with mentorship and insight into the department, a Patrol Sergeant, Training / FTO Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Lieutenant over The Special Investigations Bureau, which included SWAT, Projects, and Narcotics and a Commander where he served in Patrol and Criminal investigation. From this rich work experience, Johnny can assist the department by providing Driver's training, Glock Armor's maintenance during AOTs, and teaching High-Risk Vehicle stops training.
Johnny holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice from Western New Mexico University. Johnny is also a graduate of the Arizona Peace Officers and Standards Arizona Leadership Program (ALP) and the Senior Management Institute of Policing.
Johnny enjoys spending time outdoors with his family when he is not working.
